Your day, your impact

You start your shift by checking the maintenance database for open work orders. A CNC mill is faulting on a servo drive, and a packaging PLC flagged an input issue overnight. By mid-morning, you’ve traced signals with a meter, combed through schematics, and updated wiring on a control cabinet. After lunch, you coordinate with a vendor on a retrofit, order replacement parts to keep spares stocked, and round out the day by tidying your area to 6S standards and documenting improvements for the next kaizen.

What you’ll handle

  • Diagnose and repair CNC- and PLC-controlled machines using electrical prints, manuals, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Perform both basic and complex machine and plant wiring on production equipment.
  • Leverage meters, scopes, and other test equipment to isolate faults and verify fixes.
  • Service and replace AC/DC servo systems, power supplies, and feedback devices.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and swap out switches and other electrical components as needed.
  • Contribute to equipment refurbishments and upgrades; assist with design and execution.

Beyond the toolbox

  • Collaborate with external vendors when specialized support is required.
  • Order parts and replenish inventory to prevent downtime.
  • Uphold 6S housekeeping and maintain an orderly, safe workspace.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities and share ideas to elevate reliability.
  • Participate in job-specific training; follow all Quality and EHS policies and programs.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and pitch in with other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree in electronics preferred.

Preferred skills and abilities

  • Practical experience with machine tool controls, including CNC and PLC platforms.
  • Hands-on work with 480/277/220 VAC three-phase power, transformers, and industrial wiring.
  • Comfort with advanced trades math and interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and charts.
  • Ability to plan and sequence setups, operations, and processes; strong troubleshooting judgment.
  • Skilled at following instructions, routines, methods, and established practices.
  • Proven capability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Computer literacy with maintenance databases/CMMS.
  • Background in electrical engineering is a plus.
