Highly successful medical practice in Pembroke Pines offers an exciting opportunity for a part time Infusion Nurse as an independent contractor, must be experienced and motivated. We thrive in a cooperative team environment and are seeking the experience of a Registered Nurse (RN) with the ability to multitask, pay attention to detail all while giving extraordinary care to our patients.
Establish IV access for infusion patients
Carefully examine all drugs and unit dose preparations prior to administration
Prepare, mix and administer medication through IV and monitor patient throughout the infusion, documenting each infusion
Perform phlebotomy by venipuncture or through IV catheter
Coordinate patient care with physicians
Steady and gentle hand is needed, knowledge of veins and arteries especially necessary.
Critical-Thinking Skills: Infusion nurses will need to assess a patient's health, as well as detect changes in symptoms, health or pain, and will need to know when action is necessary.
Compassion: Nurses help people. You will need to be sympathetic to a patient's needs and be able to deal with people in various states of health.
Attention to Detail: Infusion nurses administer medicines and work with specific treatments that, if wrong could prove fatal. Attention to detail is crucial.
Organizational Skills: Infusion nurses will face multiple patients, with differing medications. Being organized and knowing how to prioritize will be helpful.
Calm Under Pressure: Infusion nurses might face emergency, or allergic reaction situation. Being able to function in the heat of emergency will be necessary.
Patience: Giving care under stressful circumstances requires patience.
Communication Skills: You will be communicating directly with patients who are scared or in pain. You will need to be a patient listener and good communicator to help keep patients calm and help them understand the process.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Must have current Florida registered nurse (RN) license
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
Minimum of two years recent experience in a specialty involving infusion therapy, including patient assessment and venous access experience.
Minimum of two years Emergency Room (ER) experience
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred
