SGI is seeking an Instructional System Designer to apply professional knowledge of education principles, learning theory, and adult learning to further the technical training POIs. Instructors will provide technical and professional forensic expertise to Army Civilians and contractors completing a DFSC technical training POI.

Job Duties:

  • Analyze design, and advise in the development and evaluation of courseware using the most current educational methodologies and concepts
  • Apply professional knowledge of education principles, technology, multimedia, and distance learning concepts to determine course objectives, course design, and course development, incorporating storyboards to define the training product's end state
  • Integrate and maximize the use of technology into existing courses (e.g., Learning Management Systems)
  • Conduct studies and research in designing and developing courseware (e.g., Pilot studies)
  • Develop plans for validating and evaluating courseware
  • Analyze, interpret, and compile community and courseware surveys into reports used to develop training trends or revise training material when necessary
  • Apply the current ISD process to design and develop learning training materials
  • Plan instruction, select instructional media and methods, and determine resource requirements about current and future courseware
  • Perform educational and technical reviews of courseware
  • Design, develop, and publish computer-based interactive multimedia to Learning Management Systems (LMS) or resident training programs
  • Coordinate with appropriate Technical Leaders and Curriculum Developers to ensure materials selected/developed meet training needs to include videos, exportable training packages, and instructional materials into LMS
  • Provide guidance and support to pilot new training programs
  • Conduct activities with other ISDs, curricula developers, and Technical Leaders, as necessary.

Qualifications:

Shall have at least a master's degree in Education supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. The course work must have included study in the following areas:

  • Learning theory, the psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
  • Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
  • Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
  • Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training.
