About the Company and Interim CFO Opportunity:
- CFS is partnering with a repeat client, a professional service company in business for over 80 years in Harford County, MD. Due to growth in the business, they are looking to hire a very hands on interim CFO to oversee the accounting team and improve processes.
- The interim CFO role is anticipated to last 6-12 months. Potential for longer term for the right fit!
- Position is fully on site in the company headquarters in Forest Hill, MD
- Hours typically are 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with some flexibility
- Reports to the Owner
Job Duties for the Interim CFO:
- Manage the accounting team of five and its day to day functions
- Develop budgets for multiple (30+) branches across various states
- Assist with filing taxes
- Oversee annual audits and coordinate with external accountants
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls
- Analyze data to identify critical trends and support strategic decision making
- Control costs and foster vendor relationships
- Advise and collaborate with senior leadership
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications for the Interim CFO:
- Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, or related required. Masters or CPA preferred
- 8+ years' full cycle accounting experience required. Willingness to be hands on and able to see the big picture!
- Must have knowledge of budget preparation
- Tax accounting experience preferred
- Experience using Great Plains a plus, but not required
- Advanced level Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
- Strong supervisory and leadership experience (able to manage accounting staff)
- Strong communication skills, good sense of humor, collaborative, team player
- Must be able to pass a background check
