Japanese CPA firm seeks a Japanese bilingual Senior Accountant / Senior Consultant for our Torrance, CA or NYC location.

Work hours: 8:30 – 5:30 (1hr lunch break)
*Possible during busy season (Jan – Apr) and month-end close (1st week of each month)
Work Setting: Hybrid (in-person 2 days per week)
(Will consider full remote depending on skill and experience)

Job Description:

1. Will be assigned as main client contact for each client engagement. Expectations will include coordinating and performing bookkeeping, monthly and quarterly closing, attestation services (financial statement review and compilation), tax return preparations, miscellaneous tax filings, interim Accounting Manager or Controller responsibilities, and other accounting and tax-related administrative services for clients.
2. Will work closely with Managers and/or Sr. Managers.
3. Expected to provide consultation services to clients, including assistance in setting up new accounting and tax-related process flows, responding to inquiries based on intermediate-level understanding of accounting and tax topics, and providing suggestions and constructive feedback based on common practices.

Report to: Manager or Sr. Manager

Qualifications and requirements:

1. At least 3 years of experience in public accounting, or 5 years of experience in private accounting.
2. Experience in Bookkeeping (including financial statement close process), Accounting and Attestation, or Tax (corporate, individual, and miscellaneous).
3. Public accounting experience is a big plus (i.e. accounting firm, bookkeeping outsourcing firms).
4. Accounting major also a strong plus.
5. CPA or Enrolled Agent certification a strong plus. (Title will be designated as Senior Consultant if candidate holds CPA)
6. Understanding of intermediate accounting, corporate tax, and/or individual tax.
7. Strong communication skills and project management skills are expected (will handle multiple client engagements simultaneously).
8. Language skills: Japanese proficiency is not a requirement, but beneficial for the role.
9. Able to read, write and speak in Japanese.

Interview process: 2-3 interviews
Role-related written exam to test knowledge (Approx 30 min)
