Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day operation of the meal service for the Center for Early Learning (CEL). This is accomplished by planning, preparing and serving breakfast, lunch as well as snacks. Maintaining the sanitation and safety of the kitchen, purchasing food and submitting information as required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED equivalent.

One (1) year related experience.

Current Food Handler Certificate (documentation of current certification is required within one week of employment).

Current Food Manager Certificate (documentation of current certification is required within one month of employment).

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Ability to understand as well as follow verbal and written instructions.

Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift and carry heavy objects.

Knowledge of basic math skills: Measuring ingredients and converting recipes (increasing/decreasing yields based on attendance).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a child-care setting.

Experience with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Additional related education or technical/specialized training.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Job Duties

Job Duty

Maintain food/equipment inventory.

Prepare purchase orders, order food, shop for food items and receive food orders.

Job Duty

Follow CACFP regulations.

Prepare meals & snacks as listed on menus (follow special dietary or allergy needs).

Determine quantities of food to be prepared daily for each meal based on attendance.

Maintain daily meal production sheets (1530's).

Job Duty

Practice sanitary food preparation and storage according to Department of Health regulations.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, pantry, and kitchen equipment.

Job Duty

Work with teachers to execute family style meal service.

Interact appropriately and professionally with children, families and staff.

Attend trainings and staff meetings that are scheduled.

Other duties as assigned by the director or coordinator.
