Job Purpose:
Serves patients by providing educational information; monitoring vital signs and functions; administering medications.

Duties:
* Educates patients and their families by assisting in preoperative, postoperative, and relevant health teaching.

* Administers medications by preparing medications; administering specified eye drops as well as oral, subcutaneous, and intermuscular injection; recording dosage and time in patient record; maintaining logs.

* Maintains patient stability by taking and recording vital signs.

* Keeps RN informed by observing patients and reporting adverse reactions to medication or treatment.

* Maintains that equipment and supplies are available.

* Serves and protects the Outpatient Surgery community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and AAAHC standards.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Enhances nursing and ASC reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
