On Time Staffing is seeking material handlers for our warehouse in Opelika, AL!

Starting pay rate: $13.50-$14

Shifts:            

  • First shift 6am-9am start time (must be flexible with the start time, working 12 hour shifts)
  • Second shift 6pm-7pm start time (must be flexible with the start time, working 12 hour shifts)

Job Description: The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products within the manufacturing facility. This role requires the ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. coils while ensuring a safe and organized work environment.

  • Safely transport and handle raw materials, including steel coils and other components, throughout the production facility.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks, racks, and storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand.
  • Supply production lines with the necessary materials to ensure continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Properly store and stack materials to maintain organization and prevent damage.
  • Verify incoming shipments against documentation for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist in inventory management by conducting cycle counts and maintaining accurate records.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas to support a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with production, quality control, and logistics teams to ensure smooth work flow.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required (forklifts, hoists, etc.), following safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in material handling or a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Ability to read a basic ruler/tape measure
  • Basic math knowledge (adding, subtracting, basic multiplication)
  • Must fluently speak/understand English 
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse and inventory procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and temperature variations.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (steel toes and safety glasses)
