Responsibilities:
1. Review medical records and documentation to accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for all procedures, diagnoses, and services rendered at our urgent care facilities.2. Ensure compliance with all coding guidelines, regulations, and policies to minimize risk and maintain accuracy in coding practices.
3. Collaborate with healthcare providers, billing specialists, and other team members to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.
4. Conduct regular audits and quality assessments to identify coding errors, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
5. Stay up-to-date with changes in coding regulations, healthcare laws, and industry trends to ensure compliance and efficiency in coding practices.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of coding training programs for healthcare providers and staff to promote accurate and consistent coding practices.
8. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Requirements
1. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or similar coding certification required.
2. Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical coding, preferably in an urgent care or similar healthcare setting.
3. Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
4. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
5. Knowledge of coding compliance regulations, including HIPAA, CMS, and other federal and state regulations.
6. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding practices.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers, staff, and external stakeholders.
9. Proficiency in medical coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Schedule:
The schedule will be Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation for this position includes a competitive hourly rate of up to $23, with the opportunity to earn a bonus of $2500. With this bonus, the total compensation package exceeds $50,000 annually.
