Medical Staff Coordinator

Job Summary

The Medical Staff Coordinator works closely with the Health Systems Department and the Revenue Cycle Department to coordinate credentialing for Health Systems Providers and complete insurance enrollment for Health Systems providers. The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for timely and accurate review and completion of the credentialing process.The Coordinator supports the Tribe's commitment to un'ina safety and regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate records and ensuring all providers meet established qualifications and standards. The Medical Staff Coordinator maintains confidentiality while completing all duties within the job description.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates with Health Systems Departments and the Human Resources Department to ensure initial credentialing is completed prior to provider's start date and ensures all re-credentialing is completed in a timely manner
  • Coordinates receipt of credentialing documentation from Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) to receive credentialing documentation and stores documents securely electronically and printed in storage cabinets
  • Works closely with the Human Resources Department to coordinate receipt of credentialing documentation for all non-ANTHC credentialed providers
  • Performs preliminary review and analysis identification of to ensure compliance of relevant information within credentialing files and prepares files for review for Dena'ina Wellness Center (DWC) Credentialing Workgroup
  • Schedules, creates agendas, and records minutes for DWC Credentialing Workgroup
  • Completes monthly Office of Inspector General (OIG) verifications for all Health Systems Departments
  • Manages all aspects of the provider onboarding process and serves as the primary point of contact until their official start with the Tribe
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date provider files including but not limited to licenses, certifications, background checks
  • Communicates the status of credentialing and onboarding process with the medical staff, Health Systems Department, Human Resources Department, and Revenue Cycle Department
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

  • Associates degree in Business Administration or related field or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree

Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in a medical office
  • Two (2) years of experience in provider credentialing

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
  • Knowledge of provider credentialing processes

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire, or, with approval of the hiring manager, sign a *Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in lieu of having a driver's license to perform the required duties of the position (If Applicable)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, or obtain within 90 days of hire

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
