The Microbiologist III position is a full-time role based in Baton Rouge, LA, supporting research on leprosy-causing bacteria (M. leprae and M. lepromatosis).

Responsibilities include designing molecular assays to assess bacterial viability in tissues, analyzing clinical samples, evaluating anti-leprosy drugs using animal models, and studying host immune responses through advanced techniques like PCR, sequencing, and RNASeq.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in Biological or related sciences, at least 3 years of molecular and microbiological lab experience, expertise in molecular techniques, and strong data documentation skills. Prior experience with leprosy bacteria and animal models is desirable.

The role involves preparing scientific reports, progress updates, and publications, with opportunities for travel as needed. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the U.S. and possess excellent communication skills.
