Backhaul Engineer position in Canton, OH (Hybrid).
Requires a 4-year degree in electrical, electronics, or computer engineering, or equivalent experience, with 8-10 years in telecommunications and optical/IP NOC operations.
Expertise in optical transport networks, including Packet Transport (PTN), GMPLS Control Plane, DWDM, OTN, SDH, MPLS-TP, Ethernet, and Layer 2 technologies.
Proficient in fiber optic principles, DWDM transmission, and tools like Power Meters, OTDR, OSA, BERT for troubleshooting.
Experience with large-scale optical networks spanning terrestrial and metro environments, data centers, and POPs.
Ability to create and review procedures, documentation, and troubleshoot critical network issues independently.
Knowledge of OEM device hardware from Cisco, Infinera, Ciena, Nokia, and ECI, along with understanding of colocation, space, and power requirements.
Strong project management and coordination skills for deploying mission-critical optical networks.
