The NetworkAnalyst assists indesigning, implementing, and maintaining the networks by managing network IPaddresses,communicating network information and requirements to connect hosts onto thenetwork, andinstalling, upgrading, and maintaining network routers, switches, firewalls,wireless access points,wireless controllers, other network devices and servers.CONTRACT OVERVIEWMUST BE CURRENT WI, 100% OnsiteThe Network Analyst works with vendors to research emerging technologies anddiagnose andresolve network problems. The Network Analyst utilizes multiple tools to monitorthe network toensure optimum performance and to assist in troubleshooting issues. The NetworkAnalystmaintains internet links, works with other Information Services units, faculty,and staff in theintegration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services, maintainsdocumentationand database information, and works with Procurement Services in the preparationand evaluationof bid specifications for network hardware and software.The position will focus on the wireless infrastructure at the Milwaukee CountyZoo. The role includesscouting all buildings at the Zoo, documenting an inventory of all devices andlisting product type,model, function, vendor, etc., per location. The candidate will also create adepository of imagesdepicting the technologies present across the Zoo, review network diagrams anddefine IP schemes,current configuration protocols, and connectivity, and define and associatedevices and applicationsto the various vendor technologies present at the Zoo (e.g., JCI, Gateway POS,etc.).Contributes to the overall success of Information Services by performing allother essential duties asassigned.Other skills that might be valuable to the role: The position reports to the Supervisor of Infrastructure Services and does nothave any directreports. A bachelor's degree is required (an equivalent combination of experienceand education may beconsidered). Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow technicalinstructions, andproblem-solving using diagnostic techniques and protocols are essential. Thorough understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, routers,switches, and wirelesssystems. Familiarity with WAN, VPNs, multicast, firewalls, DHCP, DNS, IP management,and networkmonitoring tools is preferred.
