Position Summary: 

  • Primarily responsible for witnessing the signing of documents and executing same, administering oaths, and authenticating signatures.
  • Key Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

    • Review and endorse, when appropriate, documents/affidavits requiring execution by a Notary Public on behalf of the company.
    • Confirm all documents/affidavits/pleadings have been executed and notarized properly based on state guidelines.
    • Maintain an electronic notary journal of all official acts. 
    • Administer oaths during telephonic hearings or trials as required.
    • Maintain knowledge of current department policies and procedures and apply as necessary in appropriate circumstances.  Update department manager about any recent changes.
    • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company policies across areas of organizational responsibility
    • Other duties may be assigned

    Professional Experience/Qualifications:

    • Must hold a current notary commission for the state of California (Required)
    • High school diploma or G.E.D required
    • Must be a U.S. citizen
    • 1-2 years of related experience as a notary in a law firm or municipal or state court or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
    • Must possess good organizational skills with a high attention to detail
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office

    Work Environment:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office environment, in an individual work station, using telephone and computer.  Employee is required to work evenings and weekends as required.
