Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Urgent Care

Since opening in 2008, this physician owned-and-operated urgent care organization has grown to 19 locations in 3 states with a staff of more than 250 individuals - clinical and administrative - including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.  They have been accredited by the Urgent Care Association of America for more than 10 years.  The leadership team takes great pride in helping make the lives of local families easier when it comes to quality healthcare.  Their locations provide walk-in treatment for a wide array of illnesses and injuries and their on-site services include x-ray, lab, IVs, and more.

On average during a 12-hour shift, a provider will treat 35 to 40 patients, with the help of a dedicated clinical assistant to room, prep, and assist as needed.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

- ordering and interpreting laboratory and radiologic testing
- developing a plan of care based on clinical impressions
- prescribing medications in accordance with State and Federal guidelines
- stabilizing patients with high acuity medical issues, within the capability of the clinic
- arranging for emergent transport when needed
- participating in orientation, training, and staff development programs

Procedures include, but are not limited to:

- venipuncture and peripheral line placement
- preparation and administration of subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular medications
- dressing changes and wound management
- administration of local anesthesia
- application of splints
- incision and drainage of simple abscesses
- removal of foreign bodies
- suturing of simple wounds or lacerations
- removal of sutures or staples
- emergency procedures including ACLS and PALS

The clinic uses the Docutap EHR.

- Connecticut NP or PA license
- PALS and ACLS certification
- at least 2 years of advanced practice experience
- previous urgent care or emergency medicine experience
- ability to perform standard urgent care procedures
- ability to treat all ages
