About Us:

We are a musculoskeletal and neurological treatment practice searching for a nurse practitioner or physician assistant to medically manage patients with chronic pain, anxiety, and depression primarily related to occupational injury.  Because most of our patients have experienced a work-related injury, we deal with workers’ compensation labor codes and MTUS Guidelines as primary resources for treatment. We offer a competitive salary for an individual with the right skillset and at least 4 years experience as NP or PA.Though services are primarily through telehealth at this time, the office will reopen for trigger point and intra-articular injections so close proximity to the office in Vallejo, California  is an advantage. 


Job Description

Nurse practitioner or physician assistant to medically manage patients experiencing chronic pain, anxiety, and depression primarily from work related injuries in a physical medicine and rehabilitation practice.

 Work environment and position duties:

·       Evaluate and manage patients with musculo-skeletal and neurological pain with focus on return to functional status

·       Utilize tele-health to provide patient care services and reduce barriers to care

·       Prescribe and monitor medications for musculo-skeletal and neuropathic pain, primarily non-opioids

·       Utilize motivational interviewing skills to create a comprehensive plan for patient centered care 

·       Collaborate with other disciplines (occupational therapy, physical therapy) for optimal care outcomes

·       Collaborate with physical medicine and rehabilitation physician to modify plan of care as needed

·       Perform lidocaine and steroid intraarticular and soft tissue injections for pain management (once office is reopened)

·       Perform electromyograms and nerve conduction studies to assess peripheral nerve status and focal peripheral neuropathies (once office is reopened) 

·       Services are virtual during pandemic 

·       Weekly hours 8-10 initially with opportunity to increase to 16-32 per week 

·       Collaborative and active support from physical and rehabilitation physician 

·       Implementation of site-specific electronic health record system

·       Participation in team-led interdisciplinary patient care meetings to improve care quality and outcomes

 Requirements:

·       Current Drug Enforcement Agency schedule 2 certification

·       Current California license

·       National board certification

·       BLS training

·       Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word

·       Experience in musculo-skeletal and neuropathic pain management, preferred

·       Functional knowledge of California Workers' Compensation and Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS), preferred
