Description

Multi-Specialty Ophthalmology office in East Ft. Lauderdale is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician. 

The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for performing complete patient work-ups and ensuring accurate chart documentation. The technician is to be an active listener and be responsive to patients’ needs and concerns.

WILLING TO TRAIN THE RIGHT CANDIDATE.

Work up patients:

Take patient history and chief complaint

Check vision

Perform AR

Read glasses

Assist Physician in exam room as needed

Perform the following as needed:

Refraction

Perform Tonometry

Perform Confrontation fields

Amsler Grid

Schirmer Test

Color Test and Stereo Test

Check Pupils

Dilate

Insertion/removal of contact lenses

Over refraction

Instrument set up for minor procedures

FA (When retina doctor is here.)

Testing:

Fundus Photos

OCT

Visual Field

A-Scan

Glare Testing

Pachymetry

Immersion

Topography

IOL Master

 

Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.

Serves and protects the ophthalmology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.

 

Other Clinical Duties:

Call in prescriptions and/or fax in refills to pharmacy, Handle clinical calls from patients and physicians, Keep exam lanes stocked. Other duties as assigned by management and/or physicians.

Skills/Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: H.S. Degree and/or College Degree. At least 2 years of medical office experience preferred. Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking) a plus.
