Job Description:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 3 to 4 Years experience Required Or Master's Degree with 2 years or equivalent internship, senior projects, or thesis in Engineering or Scientific field including either industry or industry/education Required
Additional Skills:
  • Good computer skills in usage of MS Office Suite; 
  • Good documentation, communication (e.g., written and verbal), and interpersonal relationship skills including consultative and relationship management skills 
  • Basic understanding of statistical techniques 
  • Previous experience working with lab/industrial equipment required (if applicable) 
  • Good understanding of Design Control Process 
  • Solid problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Solid understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work 
  • Strict attention to detail
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels

Key Responsibilities:
  • This position has a New Product Development focus and will provide overall package engineering support for new product development teams. 
  • Will prototype, design, develop and validate packaging systems to support clinical trials, limited market releases, and full-scale product launches.
  • Specifically, the incumbent will provide R&D package engineering & project management support for new product launches, clinical trials, global and limited market releases as well as key operations initiatives. 
  • Drive new packaging technologies and strategies to improve time to market with a focus on Functional Excellence and Value Expansion to develop excellent capabilities and provide a competitive advantage to Edwards.
  • Key activities for this position will include developing and executing protocols for package design, packaging processes validation, and package shelf-life testing. 
  • Help support and drive new packaging technologies and strategies to improve time to market and advance the technology of package engineering at Edwards.
  • Working through continuous changes resulting from a dynamic product development environment and translate the device changes into the package development process, working closely and continuously with cross-functional team members and outside suppliers of materials and services.
  • Validating packaging equipment and packaging manufacturing processes. Source, purchase, install and validate equipment as well as develop and validate packaging processes
  • Design and optimize packaging for moderately complex projects, including new product launches and existing products throughout all stages of product development from concept to launch, including clinical trials, global and limited market releases, as well as key operations initiatives (40%) 
  • Develop protocols for, and implement, package design, packaging process validation, and package shelf-life testing, as well as driving new packaging technologies and strategies to improve time to market and advance the technology of package engineering at Edwards (25%) 
  • Develop plans for moderately complex projects working closely with cross-functional team members and outside suppliers (20%) 
  • Validate packaging equipment and packaging manufacturing processes to determine appropriate sourcing, purchasing, installation planning, and specifications (10%
