Description
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington is seeking a faculty position as full time Assistant Professor (without tenure by reason of funding), Associate Professor (without tenure by reason of funding), or full Professor (without tenure by reason of funding) on the Clinician Scholar pathway to join the Division of Cardiology as a member of the non-invasive imaging team.
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical abilities in a wide range of non-invasive cardiac imaging modalities, including transthoracic, transesophageal, 3D-echo, strain and a specific focused expertise in cross-sectional imaging.
- Performance and interpretation of imaging and physiologic data needed to understand underlying pre and postoperative simple and complex cardiac congenital pathologies in neonates, children and adults.
- Serve as an attending physician in the Echocardiography Laboratory at Seattle Children's Hospital, ensuring timely completion of echocardiogram interpretation and reporting of results with appropriate communication to referring providers.
- Participate in task forces and committees as requested by the applicable service line or Seattle Children’s Leadership.
Clinical Care:
- Participate in outpatient, inpatient cardiology and consultation, providing clinical care and supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
- Ensure appropriate coordination and integration with other services in the care of patients.
- Engage with consultants and other providers in a multi-disciplinary model of care.
Planning:
- Work with administrative and clinical leaders to support quality and performance improvement to ensure program goals are attained.
- Participate in task forces and committees, as applicable to Service line or Seattle Children’s leadership.
Regulatory:
- Support timely review of any patient safety events.
- Respond in a timely manner to physician or patient related feedback or complaints.
- Support legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Participate regularly in physician variability documentation and IAC conferences to maintain lab accreditation.
- Support and participate in M&M program and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide input to continuing education activities designed to maintain and enhance competencies.
- Maintain professionalism with regards to billing, documentation, conference attendance and collaboration with peers, trainees, staff, patients and families.
Research:
- Engage in significant scholarship activities focused on cross-sectional imaging.
- Demonstrate expertise in research methods with a successful research career as well as experience mentoring faculty and trainees in scholarly work.
- Identify opportunities and actively participate in scientific investigations and collaborations.
- Maintain academic productivity commensurate for rank and for the Clinician-Scholar.
Education:
- Support cardiac clinical educational programs for sonographers, medical students, residents, fellows and nursing.
- Provide advanced clinical and research training for non-invasive cardiac imaging fellows.
- Participate and contribute to quality improvement projects and/or curriculum development.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship and service.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $17,685 - $26,797 per month ($214,380 - $321,564 annually), Associate Professor range: $21,445 - $32,169 per month ($257,340 - $386,028 annually), Professor range: $27,515 - $41,273 per month ($330,180 - $495,273 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Qualifications
- Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).
- Must have completed pediatric residency and a categorical fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology.
- Completion of a 4th year advanced imaging fellowship training is required.
- Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Pediatric Cardiology.
- Must be licensed as a physician or eligible for licensure as a physician in Washington state.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
