Appointments are limited-term and are designed for those who have recently received a doctorate. Appointments are made to academic departments with the approval of the department head and may require senior officer approval. Appointments are usually for not less than one term and are normally not renewed beyond a total of five years. This appointment is not intended for long-term, indefinite, or career appointments.

I. POSITION INFORMATION

Job Description Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Using data from the Caminos project, conduct analyses, interpret findings, and write up results as a lead author and as a co-author for professional presentations and peer-reviewed manuscripts. These studies primarily, although not exclusively, will be focused on examining Latinx youth’s adjustment with respect to cultural, contextual, and interpersonal factors. Work will be conducted under the supervision of the PI, Dr. Roche, and – when appropriate – other study investigators.
  • Within a 12-month period: Conference Papers Submit a minimum of 2 lead-author papers and contribute as a co-author to at least 2 additional Caminos papers for papers that will be presented at professional conferences (e.g., Society for Research on Child Development (SRCD); Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA)). Peer-reviewed Publications: Author or co-author 6 peer-reviewed publications. A minimum of 2-3 will entail serving as lead author.
  • Spend up to 20% time developing or contributing to grant submissions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for the award of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field by the date of employment.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Publication Record: Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications in reputable academic journals, or manuscripts in preparation.
  2. Strong Analytical Skills: Experience and training in longitudinal data analyses with latent variables. Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, or SAS and Mplus).
  3. Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate research findings effectively through oral presentations, conference talks, and written manuscripts.
  4. Commitment to Professional Development: Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, such as attending conferences, workshops, or training sessions.
  5. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Willingness and ability to collaborate with researchers from diverse disciplines.
  6. Ethical Conduct: Adherence to ethical guidelines in research involving human participants, including obtaining necessary approvals from institutional review boards (IRBs).
  7. Diversity and Inclusion: Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research practices and interactions with colleagues and participants.
  8. Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing research priorities and work effectively in a dynamic research environment.
  9. Professional References: Provide names and contact information from two (2) academic mentors or supervisors who can attest to the candidate’s qualifications and potential for success in the postdoctoral position.

Hiring Range: 61,008 - 65,000
