A Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate position is available in the lab of Dr. Serghei Mangul in the Titus Family Department of Clinical Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy at the University of Southern California. The Mangul lab aims to combine open omics data with robust bioinformatics methods to enable novel biological discoveries. This includes designing, developing, and applying novel and robust data-driven, computational approaches that will accelerate the diffusion of genomics and biomedical data into translational research and education.

The successful candidate will perform research and develop novel bioinformatics tools conducting large-scale integrative analyses of biological, medical, and genomic data. Opportunities are available to conduct meta-analyses of software development practices, implementation, and bioinformatics educational strategies. Members of Mangul Laboratory are devoted to data analysis transparency, effective sharing, reproducibility, software usability, and archival stability to foster a sustainable data science ecosystem in biomedical research.  Dr. Mangul is committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment. The position is available for 1 year and renewable contingent on successful progress and available funding. The salary will be competitive. Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. in biology, genetics, computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field. Proficiency in Python, C++, and Unix Bash Shell is essential. Competitive applicants will also have extensive experience in working with high-performance clusters and conducting bioinformatics research and will have the desire to apply for external fellowship funding. Preference will be given to candidates with a compelling publication record, evidence of substantial research productivity, and the ability to successfully communicate scientific information.
