Reports To: Universal Prekindergarten Director (UPK Director) & Prekindergarten Coordinator
Location: Watervliet Elementary School
Working Days: Monday - Friday
Working Hours: 07:45 AM - 03:45 PM, hours may vary.
Salary & Benefits: Starting $33,000, 40 hours per week, paid school vacation during the academic school year, and snow days, 401K, health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, retirement benefits, paid sick days and eligibility for a discount through Verizon Wireless.

Prekindergarten Teacher will be responsible for planning, developing, and instructing 3-4-year-old students following the approved curriculum goals, standards, and learning objectives creating developmentally appropriate lessons and experiences for academic and social-emotional achievement. Classroom configuration is 18 students, 1 teacher, and 1 teaching assistant.

Key Roles:
-Leadership & Supervision
-Communicate and work with your Teaching Assistant to implement the planned lesson.
-Evaluate and coach your Teaching Assistant periodically according to the performance evaluation policy.
-Participate in offered Personal Development opportunities by the School District and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area.

-Create, submit, and file lesson plans based on the provided curriculum and the students’ specific needs.
-Collaborate with the Teaching Assistant to deliver the plan and ensure all required materials are in class.

Program Delivery:
-Deliver creative, hands-on classroom activities based on units of study and students’ needs. -Complete progress reports, attendance, progress monitoring, summary/goal sheets, report cards, monthly updates, and any additional required paperwork in a timely manner. Health & Safety:
-Follow and maintain the school district’s health and safety regulation policies.

-Internal: Communicate with UPK Director, Coordinator, fellow Prekindergarten Teachers, Teaching Assistants, District staff, and students to work together, instruct, discuss issues, receive/provide information.
-External: Maintain open lines of communication with parents, District staff, School Administration, to maintain the success of daily programming.

-Background check clearance.
-Possession of a valid photo ID.
-Must have COVID Vaccination (per school requirement).

-At least an Undergraduate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or any other related field.
-Valid NYS Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Education or Masters equivalents such as Literacy B-6th or Curriculum Development, OR currently enrolled in a certification program.

Skills & Knowledge Required:
-Mandated Reporter Certification
-Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Training
