Shape the Future of Flight — One Part at a Time

Atlas Fibre | Northbrook, IL

Compensation: $20.00–$29.00 per hour, full-time

At Atlas Fibre, we manufacture high-performance composites and thermoset materials used in automotive, aviation, and aerospace applications. Our Northbrook facility supports next‑generation aircraft, spacecraft, and high-performance vehicles with components that demand precision and reliability.

A Day in the Life at 3411 Woodhead Dr, Northbrook, IL 60062

You arrive at our climate-controlled plant, review the day’s work orders, interpret complex blueprints, and dial in your CNC program. You confirm tooling offsets, load composite raw material, and bring a machine up to speed. Throughout the run, you monitor cycle times, verify dimensions with calipers and micrometers, and keep the workstation organized and safe. When something drifts, you troubleshoot alongside your supervisor and document everything for traceability.

Role Highlights

  • Program, set up, and run CNC equipment per specs and work orders.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and instructions.
  • Load materials and verify tooling to ensure proper machine functionality.
  • Monitor and adjust machine operations to maximize quality and throughput.
  • Perform routine maintenance and keep an orderly workstation.
  • Troubleshoot process or safety issues with your shift supervisor.

Quality & Safety First

  • Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Uphold FOD control practices critical to aviation/aerospace work.
  • Follow strict protocols for composite dust collection, PPE, and guarding.
  • Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation for full traceability.

Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Engineering and Quality on new product introductions.
  • Stay current on emerging composite machining and aerospace manufacturing tech.
  • Drive reductions in cycle times, extend tool life, and minimize material waste.

What You Bring

  • 1–3 years of hands-on CNC machine operation experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; machining technical training/certification preferred.
  • Ability to read complex prints and engineering schematics.
  • Strong command of precision metrology and inspection methods.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, quality mindset, and safety focus.
  • Solid math and problem-solving skills.

Pay, Benefits, and Growth

  • Hourly rate: $20.00–$29.00 (DOE)
  • Medical and dental insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • Tuition reimbursement for continued learning
  • Clear advancement opportunities as we expand

Work Environment

Modern, climate-controlled facility with state-of-the-art CNC equipment. Expect extended standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working around process noise and composite dust (PPE provided). Some flexibility for shift coverage may be required.

Here, your CNC expertise supports industries pushing the boundaries of materials science and engineering. You’ll contribute to real aerospace applications while leading technical improvements and sharpening your craft.
