Principal Product Manager - Tech, Selling Partner Promotions

Job ID: 2947504 | Amazon.com.ca, ULC - A49

Promotions are a key part of the Amazon flywheel: they bring excitement and value to customers, drive sales for selling partners, and grow Amazon’s long-term free cash flow (LTFCF). Experimentation, automation and scalability are a core part of our mission statement. In this role, you will lead the Seller Deals charter by partnering with key parts of Amazon's e-commerce business: Internal clients, Selling Partners, Sellers, Supply chain, Personalization, Pricing, and Promotions.

This role will lead the strategy and execution of the sourcing experience for promotions for all sets of users (Sellers, Vendors, internal users). As a product leader, you will be responsible for the long-term vision, roadmap, tradeoffs, stakeholder management and partnerships with UX, Tech, and WW stakeholders.

Key Job Responsibilities

As an ideal candidate, you will have experience in leading Consumer Marketplace/e-commerce products and a passion to understand the interplay between customer experience, seller/vendor experience, and financials. You are responsible for defining and driving our product roadmaps. You will work with in-house scientists, retail and 3P organizations, data-engineers and software teams to identify new features and projects. As our lead product strategist, you must analyze the potential customer and financial implications, select the most promising ideas, prioritize them and create a cohesive roadmap. You will also evangelize new features to our clients, working to accelerate their adoption, track the impacts, and communicate results with senior leaders.

This is a highly visible position. You must have the experience and capability to prepare documentation for senior executives and align your roadmap with Amazon’s strategic objectives. Excellent written, verbal communication and data analytical skills are a necessity. Successful candidates should thrive in a highly collaborative, creative, analytical, and fast-paced environment oriented around delivering optimized promotions to customers worldwide.

About the Company

A

Amazon

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
