POSITION OVERVIEW:
We seek an experienced Biologist who will join Disc’s Innovation team as a Principal Scientist/Associate Director. The successful candidate will lead discovery projects for biologics, design and oversee in vitro and in vivo studies to advance our discovery pipeline, and effectively communicate project updates. The person in this role will contribute scientifically across the portfolio to projects at various discovery and development stages with meaningful opportunities for professional development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate small- and large-scale biologics expression and characterization by biophysical and cell-based assays.
- Oversee the development of biochemical and cell-based assays to screen biologics.
- Support the identification, characterization, optimization, and selection of lead molecules for multiple programs.
- Design and oversee the execution of in vivo studies to evaluate the PK/PD profile of biologics and their efficacy in multiple disease models.
- Clearly communicate progress in weekly/biweekly meetings, ensuring adherence to timelines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams across the organization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related disciplines.
- 9+ years of hands-on experience with biologics discovery in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in biologics (including fusion proteins and multi-specific antibodies) expression, purification, assessment of biophysical properties, functional screening assays and developability assessments.
- Broad expertise developing complex in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo assays to characterize & develop therapeutic antibodies.
- Experience with designing and executing PKPD and efficacy studies in several disease animal models.
- Previous experience working with CRO is preferable.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, strong analytical abilities and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication to work effectively within a collaborative work environment.
