Job Summary


MUFG Americas is embarking on a business and technology transformation to effectively deliver five key business imperatives: Growth, Business Agility, Client Experience, Effective Controls, and Collaboration. To accomplish these imperatives, MUFG has launched a Transformation Program built upon the following foundation Pillars:


  • Core Banking Transformation Program
  • Data Governance, Infrastructure & Reporting Program
  • Technology Modernization Program


This position supports the Core Banking Transformation (CBT) Program. CBT is a multi-year effort to modernize our deposits platform with a world-class digitally-led and simplified ecosystem for consumer, small business, commercial and transaction banking to deliver outstanding customer experience and provide the bank a competitive advantage in the market. Our customers will benefit from streamlined and automated processes that simultaneously will provide the bank business process efficiencies and operational cost savings.
Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project management governance practices of complex/critical projects comprised of multi-functional work streams with material impact to the enterprise
  • Structures the overall work breakdown structure (i.e., WBS or project plan) to meet the project goals and objectives
  • Accountable for the completeness and quality of the three-year, Jira-base work breakdown structure including front to back requirements traceability from Design through Implementation
  • Communicates the project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations
  • Provides comprehensive analysis and direction for mission-critical workstreams on a large, multi-year project
  • Uses approved project management methodologies (SDLC) to track progress against planned targets throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Supervises key project achievements and adjusts project plans and/or resources to meet project delivery needs
  • Conducts project meetings. Directs team and supervises work efforts; identifies resource needs, performs quality review; intensifies functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately
  • Responsible for taking action to acquire resolutions of critical issues. Negotiates resolutions on project hurdles that threaten cost, schedule or project scope
  • Must investigate and develop solutions for sophisticated business or project issues, including analysis, management approval, communication, and implementation
  • Must be recognized domain expert internally and externally within the project management subject area and provide strategic direction, guidance and integration of products and services to senior management
  • Provides feedback for process improvement, lessons learned, program enhancements, and strategic alignment with business or other programs 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Completion of PMP or other equivalent certification (preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g., financial, government, healthcare, etc.)
  • Experience managing packaged software implementations within a complex existing or ‘legacy’ system environment
  • Experience managing software lifecycle projects using waterfall or iterative methodologies
  • Extensive experience using Jira and Confluence to manage a project’s schedule (work breakdown structure)
  • Experience driving organizational behavior change and adoption of new software
  • Interest in adapting new technologies
  • Strong attention to detail
