Systems Control is looking for a Protection and Control Manager to become a part of our Integrated Substation Solutions team. As a Manager of our Protection & Control Engineering Team, you will be responsible for overseeing Protection and Control Engineers, Leads, and Designers within the Engineering Services department. These teams are responsible for the creation of substation drawing packages including one-line drawings, three-line drawings, DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, component layouts, electrical plans, and detailed assembly drawings that will be drafted using AutoCAD and MicroStation. Our P&C Engineering Services teams also perform fault analysis and coordination studies, SCADA settings, along with developing settings for most station relays.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team to align with the strategic goals set forth for the company.
  • Develop annual strategic goals that align with 3-5 year plan.
  • Collaborate and align goals with other departments where needed.
  • Drive performance within the teams to improve quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery of products.
  • Coordinate and lead monthly operational reviews for the team.
  • Develop standardization throughout the teams creating capability of scaling with the projected workload forecasts.
  • Develop direct reports, onboard new team members, and provide daily, weekly, and yearly coaching of employees to build an actively engaged workforce.
  • Actively involved in the recruitment and interviewing of potential technical team members.
  • Develop training and provide technical mentoring to technicians, designers, and engineers.
  • Recognize a need for, and champion process improvements.
  • Lead performance reviews and career development for the team.
  • Support development of complete and detailed customer site visits and technical scopes for projects which meet customer requirements.
  • Customer visits (travel approximately 20% of the time).
  • Support resource management and project planning activities.
  • Support team with estimates and other critical duties as needed.
  • Participate and lead in customer sales calls and new business development with new potential clients.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of twelve years of experience with increasing responsibility with at least seven years of T&D Protection and Control related experience in both relay settings and P&C drawing package creation. Minimum of 5 years in a management position.
  • Experience driving strategic goals with guidance of direct reports.
  • Active PE License in a US State with ability and willingness to obtain licenses in further states as necessary.
