Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and patient-centered Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing behavioral health team at MedNOW Clinics in Lakewood, CO.

In this vital role, the PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to patients across the lifespan, addressing a wide range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and substance use disorders.

The PMHNP will utilize a holistic and integrative approach, combining psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, behavioral interventions, and collaboration with interdisciplinary providers to promote mental wellness and resilience.

Beyond providing direct patient care, the PMHNP will play an important leadership role within the behavioral health team — offering mentorship, clinical oversight, and contributing to program development. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and is deeply committed to improving access to quality mental health care within a primary care setting.

As part of MedNOW’s integrated care model, the PMHNP will partner closely with primary care physicians, therapists, and case managers to coordinate treatment plans, bridge transitions of care, and ensure each patient receives personalized, continuous, and evidence-based support.

This position offers an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families while advancing the growth of behavioral health services across Colorado.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations using evidence-based tools to identify and diagnose mental health conditions.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating medication management, psychotherapy, and other modalities.
  • Medication Management: Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications as clinically indicated, ensuring patient safety and adherence to best practices.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy as appropriate to support patient well-being.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with psychiatrists, primary care providers, therapists, and nursing staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Education: Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and self-management strategies.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide timely, compassionate response and stabilization for patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise and mentor psychiatric nurse practitioners; ensure documentation standards and care quality are consistently met.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough, timely, and compliant clinical records in accordance with MedNOW and regulatory standards.

Licensure & Certification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
  • Board Certification (PMHNP-BC) required
  • Active Colorado medical license and DEA registration
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner role required
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaborative skills

Preferred Experience & Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of psychopharmacology, diagnostic frameworks, and therapeutic modalities
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Strong critical thinking, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated compassion and cultural sensitivity in mental health care
