Role Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer provides hands-on support to operational and development programs, driving zero-defect outcomes through advanced engineering and problem-solving. This role is accountable for delivering and maintaining robust, capable manufacturing processes while championing a quality-first culture across teams, suppliers, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure full compliance with company Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Provide technical expertise to resolve vendor schedule and quality issues
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and non-conformance elimination using the company Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite
  • Drive product development, customer quality requirements management, and first article inspections
  • Lead supplier audits and assessments; manage resulting NCRs from all sources (supplier, internal, workstation, customer, certifying agents)
  • Serve as the primary quality point of contact for customers — issues, development, audits, process changes, and inquiries
  • Manage calibration of all measuring equipment (hand tools, CMMs, granite surface plates, comparators, gages/fixtures, etc.)
  • Collect and monitor quality data; identify trends and drive continuous improvement
  • Implement Lean initiatives to continuously improve production processes
  • Ensure site compliance with customer quality systems through auditing and action monitoring
  • Maintain and develop the Quality Management System by integrating industry and customer requirements
  • Conduct periodic internal quality training; lead bi-weekly quality discussions
  • Participate in MRB (Material Review Board) activities
  • Serve as process owner for NADCAP conventional machining as a special process
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of all quality activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, OR 4+ years of equivalent qualifying experience
  • Fluency in English (speaking and reading)
  • Must be a U.S. Person (Citizen or Permanent Resident), or have the ability to obtain required government licensing to work with controlled technology and products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of quality system models: ISO 9000, AS9100
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Hands-on auditing experience (internal and/or supplier)
  • Customer-facing quality management experience
  • Understanding of machining processes
  • Training or experience in Lean tools: Practical Problem Solving, A3, PFMEA, Fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams
  • Familiarity with AS9145 or equivalent APQP/PPAP processes
  • Experience working with NADCAP requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking at least 7 hours per day
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling at least 2 hours per day
  • Fine dexterity, light and firm grasping with hands at least 7 hours per day
  • Travel up to 25% for supplier visits and training activities
