Quality Metrology Engineer – CMM Programming

Reports to: Quality and Safety Manager

Our mission: zero escapes. We deliver high-precision machined components that meet exacting requirements, every time. Your metrology expertise is how we get there.

Why this role matters

Imagine a new aerospace component entering production. You translate customer specifications and military standards into robust CMM programs, validate FAIRs, and partner with machinists and engineers so every critical feature is measured the right way, the first time. You keep equipment calibrated, fixtures dialed in, and documentation airtight—so shipments go out with full confidence of conformance.

How you'll contribute

  • Program and operate multiple CMMs; develop, maintain, and generate programs aligned to customer specifications (Zeiss Calypso preferred).
  • Plan and perform FAIR, sample, and final inspections for precision components.
  • Design fixtures to enable stable setups and rapid changeovers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing engineering to optimize measurement of tightly toleranced, critical features.
  • Drive continuous improvement across procedures, processes, and methods to eliminate escapes.
  • Maintain CMMs through probe qualifications, routine calibration, and regular cleaning.
  • Execute preventive maintenance on all inspection equipment.
  • Establish clear inspection criteria by interpreting customer drawings and specs.
  • Review and complete shipping documentation, certifying that all requirements are met.
  • Coach and assist in training team members to elevate quality capability.
  • Report to the quality lead and work cross-functionally to ensure timely, accurate data flow.
  • Accurately complete paperwork and production reporting for time, attendance, and inventory.
  • Maintain a 6S-aligned, safe, and organized work area; comply with all safe practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least 4 years in Quality Control or Machining.
  • Proven CMM programming and operation experience.
  • Advanced blueprint reading, strong GD&T command, and familiarity with military specifications.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and logistics administration.
  • Preferred exposure to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485, and AS9100D.
  • Zeiss Calypso experience preferred.

Strengths that set you up for success

  • GD&T expertise applied to real-world inspection strategies.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).

Equipment you'll use

  • Coordinate Measuring Machines (Zeiss CMMs).

Join us to turn exacting specifications into confident shipments—one precise measurement at a time.
