Daicel Arbor Biosciences is a global provider of genomics reagents and services. We are looking for a creative, highly motivated genomics scientist who can design, build, and test tools for current and emerging NGS-based technologies. This person will leverage their experience and deep familiarity with sequencing technologies to independently research and develop genomics tools and reagents. They will design, execute, analyze, interpret, and regularly report relevant results in both narrative and graphical forms to peers and supervisors. A successful candidate will manage scientific projects towards developing differentiated and competitive product and service portfolios.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan, organize and conduct experiments in developing new products and services in the area of genomics.
- Develop and execute protocols for sample preparation, library generation, and sequencing on various NGS platforms.
- Analyze data, generate reports and present results in internal and external forums.
- Develop and manage project timelines and project reporting. Maintain comprehensive documentation of experiments, analysis and reporting
- Collaborate closely with laboratory and bioinformatics team members to ensure timely execution and interpretation of experiments.
- Coordinate activities between various internal departments (R&D, Manufacturing, Product Management) that are essential for development or improvement of products and services.
- Supervise and mentor junior team members. Train team members in the areas of genomics.
- Keep abreast of scientific literature and new technologies related to genomics and that may apply to Daicel Arbor Biosciences products and services.
- Report research activities at R&D meetings. Make presentations of experimental results and conclusions at internal and external meetings, scientific conferences, and tradeshows.
- May manage junior scientists, technicians, research associates, interns.
- Three plus (3+) years of hands-on laboratory research experience in Life Science Industry.
- Experience with basic molecular biology laboratory techniques of nucleic acid purification, restriction digestion, cloning, PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis etc.
- Extensive experience with designing and troubleshooting protocols from sample prep to sequencing. NGS library preparation, sequencing, assay development using Illumina sequencing platforms.
- Proficiency in analyzing NGS experimental results and derive conclusions. Advanced data analysis skills utilizing tools such as JMP and Excel, comfort with programming languages like Python and R, and proficiency with bioinformatics tools and platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research lab. A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and demonstrated success in collaborative and individual projects.
- Strong organization and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Targeted sequencing using one or more technologies (hybrid capture, MIPs, multiplex amplification).
- Technical proficiency in long-read sequencing technologies (e.g., PacBio).
- Familiarity with genotyping, RNA-seq, methyl-seq, transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, epigenetics.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, or training capabilities.
- Proven example of an inventive use or modification of existing assays to meet needs.
- Lead authorship of publications related to molecular tool development/applications.
- Natural curiosity and desire to embrace, learn, and apply emerging technologies as applicable.
- PhD in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry or a related field.
