Position Overview:

Sutter Regional Medical Foundation is the Greater Solano andContraCostaCounty's largest multi-specialty physician organization. Serving the community for over 50 years, its doctors and other health professionals pride themselves on offering high-quality, compassionate care out of five care centers in Vacaville, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Pittsburg, Brentwood and Antioch California.

The candidate for this position will be required to perform all routine radiographic examinations such as head, chest, extremities, and abdominal studies. Technologist sets up x-ray room; assures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters or other required equipment are present and lay out; as required by procedure or patient's condition, monitors vital signs, such as heart beat and blood pressure and notifies physician of significant changes. Further, candidate receives patient, explains method of procedure, positions patient, selects and sets technical factors, sets up and adjusts accessory equipment required, and makes exposures necessary for the requested examinations. Performs complex proceduressuch as cholecystograms, cholangiograms, urethrograms, GI series, barium and aircontract barium enemas and invasive procedures of the arterial/venous systems. As workload dictates, performs procedures such as linear tomography, venography, and arthrography. Performs many other special diagnostic x-ray procedures, which vary in complexity. Utilizes quality control techniques and assists in quality assurance programs. Processes exposed radiographs and prepares film processing chemicals. Monitors the equipment for proper operation. Enters and retrieves specific patient data in the computer system.


Knowledge of: Knowledge and skill in positioning patients. Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology

Ability to: Ability to work independently. (Example: Ability and initiative to make accurate and reliable judgment concerning the patient, equipment or department.) Ability to operate a variety of radiographic equipment and detection of equipment malfunction. (Example: Past experience using radiographic Equipment.) Ability to communicate effectively and the ability to instruct. (Example: Ability to explain procedures to patients and direct them how to move to achieve the correct position and to provide comfort and reassurance.) Ability to interpret and follow instructions. Ability to maintain appropriate supply levels. (Example: Prior experience overseeing stock maintenance and establishing and adjusting stock levels.) Ability to record, compiles, and retrieves data required for administrative and fiscal reports. (Example: Experience inputting and extracting data in the computer.)

Experience and Education: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Radiology Technologist experience of at least two (2) years. Sufficient years of experience in healthcare, preferably performing duties comparable to those in an acute care or outpatient clinic. C-arm and portable x-ray equipment experience required. Education: Must maintain corresponding State certificate as a Certified Radiologic Technologist with fluoroscopy permit. Graduate of an approved or accredited School of Radiology Technology. Ambulatory healthcare experience preferred. CPR certification within three (3) months of hire and keeps certification current.

Other: Must be able to work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require; able to organize work assignments, maintain accurate and complete records and able to maintain a high degree of accuracy in procedural detail.
