We are seeking a Registered Dietitian - SPD Dietitian who will plan and deliver nutritional care of patients/residents in accordance with physicians' orders and requirements of regulatory agencies. Function as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team to assess, plan and administer nutrition care to patients with nutritional risk factors.
In this position you will:
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, patient/customer safety, and infection control standards.
Assesses patient/resident nutritional status according to department, hospital and regulatory agency standards of care in determining appropriate nutritional care plan.
Uses independent discretion and judgment when interacting with all members of the health care team in administering nutrition care plans in a timely manner.
Evaluates medical records to obtain necessary medical information to determine patient/resident nutritional status and develop nutritional care plan.
Demonstrates ability to tailor treatment based on unique requirements of patients' age and developmental needs. Exhibits knowledge of patients' developmental needs and demonstrates skills necessary to deliver patient care to that population.
Consults with medical staff on appropriate nutritional intervention to improve patient/resident nutritional status or prevent further deterioration of health.
Documents recommendations in the patient/resident medical record according to department and hospital policy to communicate to physicians and other team members.
Uses clinical judgment to evaluate effects of nutritional intervention and to determine need for further intervention and revision of nutrition care plan.
Develops and maintains an effective rapport with patients/residents to determine individuals' needs and most effective methods to meet those needs.
Provides nutrition education and counseling, upon physician referral or based on clinical professional judgments, for patients/residents admitted to the medical center and outpatient settings.
Participates in patient/resident care conferences and multi-disciplinary team meetings to provide clinical assessment of patient/residents nutritional status and discharge/continuing care plans.
Provides drug-nutrient interaction information to other health care team members and assists in the education of adverse drug-nutrient interactions to patients/residents.
Uses professional judgment and discretion when recommending nutrition supplementation in order to promote cost-effective and appropriate nutrition care.
Assists with data collection and evaluation of performance improvement indicators to monitor the quality and appropriateness of patient/resident care.
Supervises Dietetic Technicians in conducting nutritional screening and in providing nutrition care to low potential risk patients/residents.
Assists with performance planning and on-the-job training of Dietetic Technicians and Dietitian Assistants.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Food and Nutrition Services Department staff to provide a coordinated, high quality service to patients/residents.
Maintains clinical and professional status through continuing education per the registration standards administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Complies with the department clinical productivity standards.
Conducts in-services/presentations as requested to health care professionals, hospital employees and community to enhance understanding and role of nutrition in health and disease.
Assists in the development and implementation of clinical nutrition programs, peer review activities, and other clinical standards to ensure program consistency.

Assists with care and maintenance of nutrition education materials and supplies.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree granted by a college or university
Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved didactic program in dietetics
Completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics supervised practice program
Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics registered or registry-eligible (must pass exam within 6 months of hire) as a Registered Dietitian
Field of Expertise: Knowledge of foods/nutrition; food preparation/production
General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software
