The Biomarker Core of Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (BU ADRC) at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) is seeking to fill a Research Technician 2 full-time position requiring laboratory experiences, coordination of research samples, data entry and organization. The project is a multi-disciplinary study to follow up a large cohort, use different biospecimen and large datasets to investigate the etiologies and risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease. The applicant will join a group of talented and motivated team members for this mission.
The successful applicant will implement processing different fluid samples of blood and cerebral spinal fluid, exosome extraction, conducing ELISA and immunoassays, cell assays, conducting and coordinating the assays for DNA, RNA and protein characterizations in Alzheimer’s Disease in a highly collaborative environment; one of NIH supported 33 ADRC centers in the US, recruiting and following up a large cohort annually, collecting different biospecimen and neuroimaging; data entry and data organization, respond to requests for samples from faculty, postdocs, and collaborators; train students, postdocs and faculty, as well as the National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center in research use; and test and utilize new techniques, modifying them as needed to adapt to specific research needs. In addition, the candidate needs to handle Alzheimer’s mouse models and characterize the brain tissues by using immunostaining and molecular characterizations.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience. Master’s degree preferred.
