POSITION SUMMARY

Our client (well known friendly hospital with multiple locations) is seeking a dynamic and team oriented Respiratory Therapist. The Respiratory Therapist shall deliver competent and compassionate Respiratory Care services for patients of all age groups through the of use of accepted Clinical Practice Guidelines for assessing, treating and documenting the effects of care for the respiratory care provided to patients.
Provides care to those suffering from acute and chronic respiratory problems. This care includes treatment, management, control, and diagnostic evaluation of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administering therapy modalities which include, but are not limited to, Hand held Nebulizer (HHN), HHN via metered dose inhaler (HHN/MDI), Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation (IPV), Chest Physical Therapy (CPT), Pentamidine therapy. Medication administration may be included during these therapy modalities
  • Administering medical gas therapy including oxygen and Helium-Oxygen Therapy (HeO2).
  • Performing ventilation therapies, including maintenance and management of life support systems. These therapies are comprised of non-invasive and invasive ventilation therapies, as well as transport of ventilator patients to diagnostic procedures
  • Performs physiological monitoring and diagnostic testing including, ABG puncture, bronchoscopy assistance, pulmonary function testing, bedside PFT's, metabolic monitoring, apnea monitoring, transcutaneous monitoring, capnography, and pulse oximetry and sleep apnea assessment.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Licensure Required:

  • Completion of respiratory care degree program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas (RCP)
  • Based on location assignment may also require BLS/ACLS/ and or PALS

Minimum Experience:

  • None required

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • N/A

The Respiratory Therapist shall work cooperatively with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary staff, and other members of the patent care team utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to maintain standards for professional practices. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment. These functions of the Respiratory Therapist shall be carried out according to departmental and hospital policies, the hospital’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department’s code of ethics.
