About the Role:

An established real estate firm is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to manage the financial reporting and accounting operations for a designated portfolio of properties. This position is ideal for a seasoned accountant with property management experience who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment. The role involves preparing monthly financial reports, managing tenant billings, reviewing payables, assisting with budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting activities for a portfolio of approximately 20 commercial properties.

  • Prepare and post general ledger entries, including recurring and accrual items, as part of the monthly financial close process.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts using Excel-based workpapers.

  • Respond to internal and external inquiries, including those from banks, property managers, and tenants.

  • Oversee monthly tenant rent billing and work closely with propertymanagement to resolve delinquencies.

  • Review and approve accounts payable transactions and release payments based on available funds.

  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process by entering fixed operating costs, debt service, depreciation, and leasing costs.

  • Support the Controller with bank reconciliations and cash receipt monitoring.

  • Provide guidance to junior staff and troubleshoot accounting issues as needed.

  • Partner with other departments and respond to requests for financial data and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • BA in Accounting or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, preferably in a commercial real estate environment.

  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager or a similar property management accounting platform is preferred.
