Headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York, Calspanâ€™s Flight Research Center is home to a fleet of experimental aircraft that include four Learjets, two Gulfstream G-IIIs, and a Premier 1A. Calspan also operates the NF-16D VISTA aircraft for the Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, CA. These aircraft are modified and used to conduct a variety of flight control, airborne sensor and system testing, and other flight research projects and demonstrations for commercial and government organizations around the world, including at the U.S. Air Force and Naval Test Pilot Schools. We are looking for a motivated Senior Aircraft Mechanic to maintain and repair aircraft and ground support equipment and operate and troubleshoot complex research systems installed in the aircraft.Responsibilities:
Adhere to procedures and requirements outlined in the official Flight Research Operations Manual. Discuss discrepancies with designers as necessary.
Interpret drawings, specifications, manuals and procedures for mechanics. Inspect size and soundness of fabricated parts and sub-assemblies intended for installation in aircraft.
Service and maintain aircraft and ground support equipment. Responsible for mechanical soundness of aircraft. From drawings and sketches, layout, fabricate and install, special modifications without compromising aircraft structural integrity or accepted aircraft standards.
