Senior Airframe Design Engineer

+ The Airframe Design Engineer at Bell is responsible for design activities related to preparation and release of engineering data for airframe components and systems.
+ Furthermore, the airframe design engineer supports the manufacturing, assembly and validation of these components.
+ Finally, the airframe design engineer ensures compliance with all best practices, customer and industry specifications in support of air vehicle performance and safety requirements.
+ This position is located at Bell’s headquarters facility in Ft. Worth, TX.
+ Create detail, assembly and installation airframe design definition in the form of 2D and 3D technical data utilizing CAD software and various analytical tools.
+ Support manufacturing of airframe components, interpreting technical data and assisting in product improvements.
+ Improve detail, assembly and installation airframe design definition in the form of 2D and 3D technical data utilizing CAD software and PLM software.
+ Participate in a cross functional team environment completing a variety of objectives depending on the program lifecycle assigned.
+ Support Supplier Manufacturing, Quality and Tooling with creation and interpretation of 2D and 3D digital part definition
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
+ Other equivalent technical disciplines will be considered with enough applicable experience.
+ At least 6 years aerospace structural design experience with 2D/3D modeling, requirement capture, and specification development preferred.
+ Strong communication skills with internal and external customers
+ Proficiency with basic office computer software, specifically the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
+ Working knowledgeable of GD&T requirements.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
+ Thorough understanding of common and advanced inspection techniques and how they relate to part design and manufacturing.
+ Proficiency in understanding tooling and machining concepts related to metallic and non-metallic components.
+ Travel: up to 20%
+ Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment, focused on mechanical or non-mechanical component manufacturing processes such as composite layups, metal machining, heat treatments, and other specialized processes.
+ Experience with mechanical computer aided design tools such as CATIA v6, UG v5, and/or ProE.
+ Experience with Mathcad, MATLAB, FEM software (ANSYS, etc.).
+ Demonstrated success working in a team environment and articulating technical data and concepts to a wide audience of individuals of different technical backgrounds.
+ Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a variety of activities and tasks while dealing with change.
+ Previous experience working with PLM software such as ENOVIA to drive product lifecycle.
+ Strong interest in directly working engineering concerns within a supply chain organization. Emphasis is placed on supplier issues, frozen planning, and MRB
+ Previous experience working on cross functional engineering programs.
