Position Overview:
  • Plays a critical role in the design and implementation of client's data warehouse and analytics environment.
  • Responsible for the data warehouse and creation of new data marts in support of increased demand for data used in reporting and analytics.
  • This role will work closely with the business to identify data requirements and formulate solutions to meet these needs.
  • Will work closely with the Chief Enterprise Architect to identify, evaluate, and introduce new technologies and applications in line with the company's technology strategy and roadmap.
  • In conjunction with other Architects and the CEA, partners with both business and technology groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions align with the company's overall objectives and meet the needs of the company's mission and vision.
  • Works as a consultant to the application teams when new functionality impacts the data availability for the warehouse.
  • Responsible to fully understand the breadth of data technology in the marketplace and propose solutions that will further the capability and maturity of the data environment.
 
Responsibilities;
  • Responsible for managing the specialized IT professionals, who design, develop, maintain, and support data warehousing and data mart technologies and systems, providing oversight and mentoring.
  • Provides technical leadership for the activities of data warehouse project teams in the design, development and implementation of data warehouses; and the configuration and auditing of data warehouses to ensure quality control of data.
  • Coordinates training and provides leadership/guidance to team members; Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the products, tools, and techniques utilized, employing them with a high level of proficiency.
  • Responsible for design of data model to support analytics and reporting, including Star Schemas and Data Marts utilizing Dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Liaise with the business to understand strategic data needs and propose solutions and designs to meet the needs, while maintaining flexibility for future changes.
  • Stays abreast of the latest database, warehousing, and analytics technology and processes in the industry and marketplace.
  • Participates in the evaluation and implementation of data warehouse, ETL, and data quality vendor software and tools.
  • Architect and implement ETL process to establish new data marts and support existing marts.
  • Design and implement automated database deployments.
  • Owns the process for database development, including documentation approach.

Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of data warehouse design, implementation and support with experience evaluating, developing, and implementing complex database systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer or Data Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Property and Casualty Insurance experience a plus.
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking for problem resolution and process development.
  • Possess a solid understanding of problem resolution, database monitoring and troubleshooting, including knowledge of business and financial applications.
  • Able to translate business needs into efficient database solutions.
  • Demonstrated skill in Kimball data modeling techniques.
  • Strong project management and organization skills.
