SUMMARY: The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance-related tasks required for maintaining and operating support systems necessary for the operation of a fabrication facility. This position is also responsible for the general maintenance and repair of office environments and the associated support equipment. As this is a team environment and this position will interact with all levels of the company, it is essential that the holder of this position be able to interact with others in a professional manner. The employee must Follow II-VI policies and procedures as they relate to health, safety, security, and all regulatory compliance requirements with respect to the position and job description

KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Installation, operation, repair and maintenance of building support systems such as:
    • Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC
    • Compressors and distribution equipment
    • Vacuum pumps
    • Building control systems
    • De-ionized water production equipment
    • Chemical waste collection systems
    • Bulk solvent delivery systems
  • Routine monitoring of equipment performance via checklists and other methods of data collection
  • Handling, sorting, and disposal of solid and liquid chemical wastes generated in a wafer fabrication facility
  • Low pressure Boiler operation
  • Respond to all work requests and assignments in a safe, professional and courteous manner.
  • Learn all assigned procedures and expectations to perform successfully during emergency situations and respond accordingly when they occur.
  • Become familiar with the layout of the facilities, location of storage rooms, shops, major conference rooms, labs, warehousing, and technical infrastructure of the supported site
  • Perform all assignments in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and other facilities/administrative trades in a thorough competent manner.
  • Performs furniture reconfigurations/repairs, furniture move/installation, office/equipment moves, minor carpet and floor repairs, interior/exterior building inspections, and other similar tasks, as required
  • Conduct building tours and inspections of site facilities as assigned to identify and correct deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Complete all required safety trainings as directed. Observe and comply with safety procedures. Hold comparable expectations for all vendors that perform assignments on site.
  • Meet all required attendance standards and expectations. Arrive on time, prepared to execute all work assignments.
  • Perform other tasks, duties, and assignments as required to meet team objectives and mission.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS (include Education, Skills & Experience):

General mechanical ability important; competent use of manual and power operated tools, and basic knowledge of commercial electrical systems, plumbing and mechanical systems, HVAC maintenance, Hazardous Materials Handling, general building maintenance such as painting, and facilities trades process and procedures required


  • Good oral and written communication skills required
  • Excellent self-managed and independent work habits are essential
  • Ability to interact with II-VI employees, senior management, staff, and vendors as a service professional at all times
  • Computer literate
  • High School or Technical School diploma preferred.
  • Two - five years of general maintenance and/or construction experience in commercial buildings environment preferred
  • AA/BS or Equivalent

Must be available for B Shift: 10% Shift Differential

4:45pm-5:15am
