Senior Product Manager, Smart Trailers, Middle Mile Fleet Management

Job ID: 2932049 | Amazon.com Services LLC

How often have you had an opportunity to be part of a team that is tasked with solving a huge business problem through disruptive, innovative technology? If you want to join a fast-paced, innovative team that is making history, reinventing an industry, and breaking new ground for Amazon, this is the place for you!

Surface Transportation org is expanding and introducing new capabilities to our Fleet Management business that supports all Middle Mile assets (tractors, trailers, box trucks, hostlers). In this role you will deliver world-class solutions while wearing many hats and working in a highly collaborative environment that is more startup than big company. This role will require strong leadership skills and interaction/influence with teams across Amazon to drive the development of our maintenance business.

The role involves day-to-day interaction with senior Amazon leaders as internal customers, understanding their needs and converting them into efficient business models. The role requires regular interactions with multiple teams and jointly working with them to meet both short-term and long-term business needs. This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution.

Key job responsibilities

We're seeking an experienced product manager to lead the strategic development and implementation of telematics solutions for our non-powered transportation assets, including trailers and intermodal containers. This role will build a "hands off the wheel" fleet operation through advanced sensor technology and data integration.

In this role, you will drive the development and optimization of our Smart Trailer fleet coverage, overseeing multiple sensor systems including tire pressure monitoring, ABS, cargo cameras, and door sensors. Working closely with internal tech teams, you'll develop scalable solutions while planning future in-house capabilities. Success requires strong relationship management across a broad range of stakeholders.

Your focus will include improving maintenance efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing delivery accuracy through data-driven decisions. You will lead safety and security initiatives while ensuring seamless integration with yard management and fleet optimization systems.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in transportation technology or fleet management, with a strong technical background in telematics or IoT systems. You should have a proven track record of managing complex, cross-functional programs, combined with experience in data analytics and system integration.

About the Company

Amazon

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
