The Space Plasma Physics Group of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a Senior Scientist to conduct basic scientific research in solar and space physics and develop new instrumentation for heliophysics and planetary missions.
The APL Space Physics Group has a broad and active basic research program that includes data analysis, theory and modeling studies of the Earth's magnetosphere and Sun-Earth connections, of other planetary magnetospheres, and of Heliospheric and Solar Physics. It has significant development programs in space instrumentation and mission design. Participation in missions includes Europa Clipper, IMAP, JUICE, Jono, MMS, Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, Van Allen Probes, and Voyager 1 2. In addition, the group fosters high-end numerical modeling and theory efforts to advance physical understanding and maximize the science return from new and existing space physics data sets.
