Job Description

Represents the collaborative vision of executive leadership and provides leadership and recommendations for strategic planning for system-wide strategic space and capital planning, as well as large-scale construction project management and facilities support. Provides effective leadership, including team building, development, engagement, and knowledge and expertise, to sustain and support Northwell’s Culture of Care and to deliver patient-focused services and solutions.
1. Strategic Planning
• Initiates and develops strategic plans, policies, and procedures for Property Management planning, design and construction.
• Identifies and develops new business initiatives and opportunities consistent with the mission and strategic direction of the Health System.
• Establishes and measures organizational performance against goals and objectives to ensure leading-edge care is provided in state-of-the-art facilities.
• Oversees the planning, organization and direction within the Health System, including: growth objectives, program goals, capital requirements, space allocation, and technological equipment and information systems (IS) purchases.
2. Financial Management
• Reviews, authorizes, and prioritizes all financial and capital expenditures by assessing profitability, alignment with business objectives and budget parameters.
• Provides financial and administrative oversight and problem resolution guidance.
• Develops and oversees operational, personnel and capital budgets.
3. Business Operations
• Builds collaborative relationships, and partners closely with the CFO, COO, and Regional/ Corporate Executives to develop a system-based vision and strategy that achieves multi-year and annual objectives.

• Ensures optimal performance of contractors, architects, sub-contractors, and suppliers and ensures work is committed to the highest quality and integrity.
• Analyzes and negotiates contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers contractual services and prices.
• Oversees Health System facilities’ physical plant operations, maintenance, and repair of equipment and buildings, renovations of existing square footage and new construction, energy management and automated building systems.
• Conducts cost benefit feasibility studies to determine the viability of new renovations and construction projects.
• Analyzes and evaluates renewable energy supply alternatives which support System goals of energy conservation and cost savings.

4. Information Management
• Oversees the current and assesses the future needs assessments of equipment, systems, and software needs to ensure optimal service outcomes.
• Reviews the planning, design, implementation, and support of information systems, networks, and applications to support operations.
5. Organizational Governance
• Upholds and communicates the mission, vision, and values of the Health System.
6. Compliance Management
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, tax laws, and regulatory agency standards of compliance.
• Oversees the development, review and distribution of reports and procedural statements which ensure regulatory and policy compliance.
• Keeps abreast of federal regulations, congressional actions and deliberations, and state and local activities.
• Ensures compliance to established disaster response and recovery plans to ensure patient safety and business continuity.
7. Human Resources Management
• Develops and oversees implementation of current and long-term Human Resources goals and objectives for organizational development, recruiting, compensation, training and development, and employee relations.
• Oversees protocols to promote employee engagement, excellence and opportunity.
• Works to create a culture of integrity, quality and engagement to meet Health System mission and goals.
• Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; and oversees the selection, development, management, and evaluation of indirect reports.
8. Patient Care Systems
• Supports a patient-centered approach to care focusing on safety, operational efficiencies, and excellent service by ensuring facilities’ physical space provides a quality of care environment for its patients, employees and visitors.
9. Quality Management
• Promotes quality and risk management improvements through the development of improved policies, procedures, processes and standards system-wide.
10. Research
• Reviews comprehensives of the area of business on an on-going basis and develops strategies for program adaptation to market changes.
11. Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field, required.
• Minimum of twelve (12) years progressively responsible senior management experience in a related field, required.
• Relative experience in a large, complex healthcare setting strongly preferred.
Possess a strong service orientation, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated success working effectively with senior leadership and a broad range of other internal and external constituents.
