This position involves facilitating communication for hearing-impaired/deaf students by using sign language, finger spelling, or voicing to connect them with teachers, staff, and peers.
Provides tutoring, clarification, and lesson preparation to ensure student understanding.
Assists with classroom activities and equipment related to the student's needs, such as hearing aids and auditory devices.
Offers interpreting support for extracurricular and school-wide events.
Supports staff in understanding the communication styles and needs of deaf students.
Performs daily checks of hearing devices, maintains confidentiality, and adheres to policies and laws.
Supports other duties as assigned.
Terms of employment depend on district policies, with evaluations conducted annually.
Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 10 pounds, and outdoor duties in various weather conditions.
