Our client, a IT Services and Consulting company, is looking for a Snowflake Platform Architect for their Chicago, IL location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Architect role in a hybrid work model focusing on designing and optimizing Snowflake based data platforms using advanced Snowflake SQL and scalable cloud patterns.
  • The professional will translate business needs into secure and efficient data solutions while mentoring teams on best practices and ensuring high standards of data quality and performance across the enterprise.
  • Design robust Snowflake based data architectures that align with enterprise standards and enable scalable analytics across multiple business domains. Develop advanced Snowflake SQL solutions that optimize query performance, reduce compute costs and improve reliability of critical analytical workloads.
  • Coordinate with product and business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into well structured Snowflake data models and reusable components.
  • Optimize data loading pipelines into Snowflake by refining partitioning strategies, clustering approaches and resource allocation for predictable performance.
  • Establish governance friendly patterns for Snowflake role design, access management and secure data sharing to protect sensitive information. Document detailed architecture decisions, data flows and integration patterns to ensure clear understanding and future maintainability of Snowflake implementations.
  • Guide engineering teams on Snowflake best practices for coding standards, query design and environment configuration to maintain consistent quality.
  • Review proposed data solutions for adherence to architectural principles, performance targets and operational reliability objectives.
  • Introduce monitoring practices that track query behavior, storage growth and workload patterns to anticipate capacity and performance issues. Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure Snowflake deployments comply with organizational policies and regulatory obligations. Experiment with emerging Snowflake features to evaluate potential improvements in performance, cost efficiency and developer productivity.
  • Provide technical guidance during incident analysis to identify root causes related to Snowflake configurations, queries or data structures.
  • Create knowledge sharing artifacts such as design standards, playbooks and reference implementations to accelerate future Snowflake initiatives.
 
Requirements:
  • Require extensive experience in Snowflake SQL development including complex transformations, performance tuning and workload management. Require strong background in designing cloud based analytical architectures that integrate Snowflake with upstream and downstream data systems. Require hands on experience with Snowflake security constructs including roles, policies and secure data sharing patterns.
  • Require practical exposure to data modeling techniques for analytical warehouses including dimensional and wide table approaches tailored for Snowflake.
  • Nice to have familiarity with orchestration tools that manage Snowflake pipelines and automate environment workflows in a hybrid work setting.
  • Nice to have experience optimizing cost through Snowflake resource allocation strategies and storage lifecycle management.
  • Nice to have understanding of broader data engineering concepts such as data quality, metadata management and observability for Snowflake platforms.
