Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a software developer to join the Shipboard IT Application Development team. Our team develops mission supported applications that are installed onboard Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. These software packages includes; desktop applications, web applications, and real-time applications. You will play an essential role in the design, development, coding, testing, and fielding of shipboard applications and solutions. Specific responsibilities includes but not limited to:

  • Developing high quality code with readability, efficiency, and maintainability in mind,
  • Responsibility for all aspects of software development, and
  • Developing engineering documentation including architectural diagrams and technical specifications.

Job Requirements

Intermediate:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant experience

Advanced:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience

Job Preferred Skills

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • Microsoft .NET framework, C#, Java, C++, HTML, Javascript, and web development.
  • Expertise in software engineering practices and software lifecycle models.
  • Experience with a DevSecOps environment with a continuous integration pipeline.
  • Understanding of database architectures.
