DN Tanks is actively seeking a self-motivated Senior Design Engineer for employment in our growing engineering department.  The Senior Design Engineer role is responsible for executing designs and providing excellent and efficient technical support internally and externally from project development through tank construction.  The Senior Design Engineer will build effective relationships within the function as well as internal and external customers.  


Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Perform structural analysis and design of new tank structures and rehabilitation/retrofit of existing tank structures in the water, wastewater, and energy industry.   

  • Review of project requirements, plans, specifications, building codes, and standards to provide complete, timely, efficient, accurate, safe, and cost-effective submittals either through design or quality control reviews. 

  • Review of project documents with regard to design requirements for the tank and provide recommended changes to improve design and reduce cost from project development through tank construction. 

  • Communicate and coordinate with consultant engineers, suppliers, and construction teams to resolve engineering-related questions and issues concerning the tank design in the best interest of DN Tanks and the client. 

  • Provide timely communication and reliable support to field personnel for all aspects of tank construction that relates to the drawings and construction information package.

Required Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; minor or emphasis in structural engineering. 

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in Civil/Structural Engineering  

  • Proficiency with MS Office and AutoCAD  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication  skills and the ability to interact professional with a range of partners, managers, and subject matter experts 

  • Professional Engineering License  

  • Ability to work within a diverse team environment  


Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering  

  • Experience in Water/Wastewater industry  

  • Familiarity with ACI 350  

  • Experience supporting construction 

  • Experience with engineering software such as SAP 2000 and/or CSI SAFE 

  • Ability to mentor younger staff/interns
