Job Overview/Summary


The Production Services function of the Global Technical Services (GTS) Organization in Kennesaw seeks a Sr. Engineer/Scientist to provide technical leadership and support in the Litter SBU and others as needed. The expected primary areas of technical support are Process and Packaging for our facilities in Spring Hill, KS and Martinsburg, WV. Secondary focus area is Glad Manufacturing support with this position being part of the Litter/Glad GTS Technical Team. The location for this position is the A&M Products Plant in Spring Hill, KS or the Corporate Central Engineering Hub in Kennesaw, GA.


Key Responsibilities


The individual in this position will draw upon technical knowledge and experience to lead complex changes and improvements to the North American supply chain. Scope of the role encompasses technical leadership for projects and in some cases overall project management. This includes supply assurance; cost savings, quality issue resolution, and strategic sourcing activities in raw & package materials/processing/formula knowledge and co-pack spend areas, as well as related operational improvements at Clorox plants and contract manufacturers. This role will also support a new plant start up.


We seek someone who is creative and independently driven to exceed expectations, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills to a wide variety of projects and business or organizational initiatives, and who can inspire the same from peers.


The individual must deliver new ideas for cost savings and other types of projects, engage influentially with business and technical leaders, understand and communicate project risks, and identify potential business opportunities outside of assigned areas. We seek someone able to work with a group of professionals to achieve and take personal ownership for their work results. The candidate needs a strong working knowledge of manufacturing/operations/packaging/solids processing and is comfortable taking a hands-on approach to working with the plants to drive change.


Key Responsibilities:


+ Represent Production Services to assigned business and technical leaders, influence decision-making in the interest of cost optimization, supply assurance, enable work processes, and ensure adequate service levels by GTS resources to the division.

+ Regularly provides technical leadership, consulting or support for trials and tests with R&D and Operations.

+ Drive implementation, prioritization and execution of cost optimization, supply assurance and other supply chain goals.

+ Lead cross-functional project execution teams delivering on project objectives while balancing overall impact to operations.

+ Independently lead or support assigned and self-identified projects, employing the principles and tools of Ops Readiness and Early Management to identify potential losses early in the life of a project and to deliver a vertical, sustainable startup.

+ Utilize creative technical problem-solving skills and design-of-experiment approach to deliver technical options and solutions when assigned to support or lead cross-functional teams.

+ Communicate effectively within multi-functional teams and build strong partnerships with OS Groups, R&D Process and Product Development, Division Quality, Global Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Solutions, business leaders and plant personnel.

+ Utilize knowledge of processing/packaging, as well as other general science and engineering principles and methods, to enhance the overall knowledge of the Department and Clorox technical community.

+ Develop best practices to drive continuous improvement and learning in Production Services and Clorox technical communities, and train others on new tools and practices.

+ Self-manage complex assignments across multiple locations, products, or businesses.

+ Typically 70% tactical and 30% strategic work.

+ Travel, primarily in US, ~30-50%, and occasionally overseas.

+ Demonstrated technical depth in all packaging materials and packaging process, processing and manufacturing supply chain knowledge, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, with ability to explain desired results, risks and next steps to any audience

+ Ability to identify, champion and institutionalize new tools, processes, and technologies

+ Ability to communicate ideas in a convincing, influential manner and to interact with all levels of the organization

+ Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills, persuasive as well as documentary

+ Strong planning and organizational skills


Minimum Qualifications:


+ Typically 5+ years engineering, science or operations work experience.

+ Education Level/Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering

+ Typically 5 years of professional experience

+ 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment desired
