Position Summary:
  • This is an engineering position requiring mechanical engineering knowledge & experience, creative / logical thinking, open-mind to learn new technologies and problem solving.
  • Senior engineers perform tasks or analyses of a complex nature and may coach or direct the work of less experienced engineers or technicians.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Create innovative composites parts design concept to meet customer's strong expectation for weight reduction / enhance the performance of automotive parts.
  • Understand and utilize wide variety of composites technologies in Client/Teijin (Carbon, Glass, Aramid / SMC, RTM, Thermoplastic, pultrusion) to come up "multi-material solution to obtain ultimate performance with reasonable cost.
  • Lead process engineer to develop innovative process technologies (molding, assembly etc.) to realize innovative composites design concept.
  • Create feature based parametric models that meet engineering, design and quality requirements such as: Manufacturability, GD&T, sealing, installation, packaging and timing constraints.
  • Develop, prepare and present multiple technical solutions and alternative designs for program issues; illustrating the options and progress of the design.
  • Conduct preliminary CAE analysis to evaluate competitiveness to finalize design.
  • Create/review GD&T, performs tolerance stack-ups and RSS studies to prevent vehicle build issues.
  • Organize and manage CAD data for accessibility on design responsible programs.
  • Generate BOM and part information for use in initial product feasibility studies.
  • Perform research, testing, data gathering, measurements, or engineering analysis in an office, laboratory or manufacturing environment. Incumbents routinely handle complex engineering assignments and participate as strong contributors on cross-functional teams.
  • Perform engineering support on complex projects or technical assignments.
  • Required to lead projects or assignments of significant scope without supervision except in unusual circumstances. Design tests or experiments to support project targets.
  • Independently experiment, compile data and analyze results. Make recommendations for project or team review.
  • Designs, testing and analysis must comply with TS and ISO procedures.
  • May be responsible for customer reports on design and engineering open items.

Qualifications:
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or in Engineering discipline is required.
  • A minimum of three years of related work experience required or in automotive structural parts area is recommended.
  • CAD Product Design & CAE Analysis is preferred or need to be open to learn and use for future projects.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and procedures strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Access, Project, Word, and PowerPoint.
