Description

The classification of Supervisor Cargo Services includes managing, coordinating and controlling all aspects of a cargo operation overseeing all operational activities including the functions described below; monitors the quantity and quality of work performance; directing personnel within assigned functional area; overseeing and advising on staffing requirements; participating in the discipline, coaching, counseling, hiring and termination of subordinates; training subordinates, ensures compliance with Company rules and regulations, Company standards and contractual agreements; ensures budgetary controls and manning requirements. This position may include responsibility for communication between individual customers and the Company. The scope of the job may vary with the size of the operation and its primary line of business.

Cargo Service Functions

Responsible for cargo warehousing, including receiving, dispatching and staging airfreight, air mail and other cargo at air freight docks and other cargo facilities; operating motorized vehicles as related to the operation; routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, equipment and facilities with or without powered equipment; and other duties and functions related to the foregoing.


Required Skills
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), holidays and days off.


Required Experience

Two to five years previous management/specialist supervisory experience in field service duties. Independent judgment and decision-making skills required. College degree or equivalent experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills. Familiarity with personal computer software helpful. Airline pricing experience. Must be able to work weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), holidays and days off. Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.
